Thousands of our Coats of Arms illustrations are derived from early archives books such as Reistaps and Burkes General Armorial. However please be aware that there will be many many variations available for any particular name. The image we supply is the one we consider accurate and suitable for that particular name. Many names have never had a coat of arms associated with it. In that case our database will create one for you which matches the name as far as possible with those that resemble the descriptions in the appropriate manuals, but which will be generic in form. When you search for your own coat of arms on the Internet you will be offered a vast range of different illustrations for the same name from all the companies who deal in them. Every one of them will say there’s is “genuine” . And every one of them will be right or wrong, depending upon your point of view. The only way to get a “genuine” genuine COA is to create it yourself and get it registered yourself. All the others out there, including ours are based on the images from the old manuals which were created for the names then, not now.
